Welcome back to Bodytech Blog. I’m your host Dr Green, a.k.a. The BodytechDoc!!! Today we have a little tale I like to call “When did this happen?”
Picture it. You’re 45 years old. Suddenly everything is tight. You ache. You wake up stiff. Everyone told you things do downhill fast after 40. That must be what’s happening. The question is, “When did this happen?”
Was it turning 40 that set off this magic string of events to make you feel old? The answer is no.
We have to look at your life leading up to this turn of events. I tell my patients all the time, it’s not the age, it’s the mileage!!! If most of us treated our cars like our bodies we’d be bankrupt trying to fix or buy new cars regularly. We do more maintenance on our possessions than our bodies. WHY? Which one is truly more valuable to you? Your car or your body?
There are several things you can do to help keep your body in good working order. Here are 3 keys items.
#1. Drink WATER. I preach this non-stop. Your body is roughly 72% water. Feed it. Dehydration causes a myriad of problems, including: Tight muscles and ligaments, poor digestion, diminishing complexion, achy joints and so on…….
#2. Resistance exercises. We lose muscle tone faster the older we get. We also seem to want to “lift weights” less the older we get. It is more important the older we get to build muscle. Our muscles truly work on the “If you don’t use it you lose it principal.”
#3. Chiropractic. As a Chiropractic Physician, I have seen first hand how taking care of your body’s information superhighway is vital to health. If the messages can’t get back and forth from the brain to the body, things can’t get done. You know how annoying it is to drop a call? Imagine if your brain and heart are talking and the call gets dropped. Ouch.
